Liverpool are ready to rival Arsenal for up-and-coming defender Caglar Soyuncu.

Gunners head of recruitment Sven Mislintat has long been a fan of the Freiburg star, who is also reported to have caught the eye of Manchester United, Manchester City and Atletico Madrid.

The centre-back is currently away with the Turkish national team and, speaking to the Turkish media, he stated that his future will be sorted once he returns to Germany.

But according to Turkish-Football.com Liverpool last night scouted the centre-half as Turkey played out a 1-1 draw with World Cup host nation Russia.

Soyuncu was actually at fault for the Russian goal - giving away possession on the edge of his own box as Aleksandr Samedov opened the scoring for Russia.

But Liverpool are said to be looking for a long-term partner to Virgil van Dijk and he could fit the bill.
