Jorginho could be nearing a move to the Premier League - but it will be Manchester City, rather than Liverpool, which would serve as his next destination.

The Napoli midfielder has been watched by the Reds, with Jurgen Klopp's side a number interested in the Italian international.

But it appears City will bolster their midfield this summer with the 26-year-old's arrival - providing they can agree a deal with the Serie A side.

Jorginho has been one of the standout performers for Napoli as they finished runners-up to Juventus this season, leading to a whole host of top European clubs monitoring him.

With Liverpool looking to boost their midfield options ahead of next season - to go along with the arrival of Naby Keita - Jorginho is one of several names linked.

But the player's agent, Joao Santos, has confirmed he client will head to the Etihad Stadium providing the transfer can be agreed between the two parties.

"Jorginho is still under contract, but if Napoli find an agreement with City then he goes to Manchester,” he reportedly told Calcio Napoli 24 (as translated by TeamTalk).

"Finding an agreement with the English won’t be a problem, considering their importance, but I repeat it depends on Napoli as the player is tied to the Azzurri for two more years.

"City are champions of England and among Europe’s top clubs.

"Now we must stay calm. If Napoli and City find a solution, we can talk about it, otherwise the player will be happy to stay at Napoli.

“For now, I haven’t heard from anyone at Napoli because I imagine they’re busy planning for next season.

“I hope to hear from their director, and maybe he’ll be in Naples in the next few days to talk about Jorginho.”
