Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is reportedly keen on signing FC Rostov forward Sardar Azmoun in order to strengthen his attacking options.

The German tactician has lost Danny Ings to a serious injury and will see Sadio Mane leave for the 2017 African Cup of Nations through January.

Given their impressive start to the Premier League campaign which sees them sit top of the table after 11 games, he will be searching for players that can help maintain their run to compete for the title.

As a result, ESPN FC claim that he’s considering a move for highly-rated Iranian star Azmoun, although their source has suggested that the Reds are yet to make an offer for him.

Further, it’s reported that much will depend on the role that Azmoun would be given at Anfield, as it appears as though he’s only ready to join the club if he is assured of an important role this season.

That may be a sticking point as it will be difficult to argue that he will be an influential part of their first team when Mane returns and is paired with the likes of Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho, which has been such an effective trident to this point.

Combined with the fact that Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi are also on the bench, it would suggest that Azmoun would have plenty of competition which may scupper a possible deal.

Nevertheless, Liverpool are seemingly set to be active in January and that will reassure fans that they’re ready to launch a sustained bid to end their title drought.
