Gonzalo Higuain's agent has distanced the striker from a possible move to Liverpool, insisting he has not met manager Jürgen Klopp to discuss a deal.

Nicolas Higuain, the Napoli forward's brother and agent, was supposedly spotted in California watching a Copa America match alongside Klopp.

Liverpool are said to be interested in landing Higuain, 28, from Napoli this summer.

The Argentina international has refused to pen a new deal with the Naples club and is reportedly seeking an exit.

Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport claim Paris Saint-Germain have also been linked with a move but Nicolas insists he has not sought a buyer for the ex-Real Madrid frontman.

“I’ve never talked about Gonzalo with other clubs as a matter of respect,” Nicolas told Italian station Radio Crc.

“I’ve been in Argentina for a month, I was also in Paris to see PSG because I have other French players as clients and many friends in football, but now I see everywhere that I met Klopp too but none of this is true.

“I don’t need to talk about my brother with the Parisian club, if PSG want to talk they have to call [president Aurelio] De Laurentiis, not me.”

Liverpool yesterday completed the £30m signing of Sadio Mane from Southampton.
