Franco Vazquez has put Liverpool, Southampton and Tottenham on red alert by revealing he wants to leave Palermo.

The attacking midfielder was strongly pursued by clubs last summer after finishing the 2014-15 season with the most assists in Serie A.

Palermo, however, managed to hold onto the Italy international after holding talks with him and his agent.

But now, Vazquez has revealed that he wants to leave because he feels he needs a new challenge.

"A cycle has finished, I can't give Palermo any more than what I've given," Vazquez told Dxt Carlos Paz.

"These were three great years, now I need a change of scene and to have new motivations, new objectives, to fight for more important things.

"The most beautiful thing was to say goodbye in the best way, achieving what we'd promised with the whole group, and this makes me happy."
