Everton and Liverpool will face competition from Fiorentina in their bids to sign Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu.

Both Merseyside clubs are on the hunt for a new shot-stopper this summer and have set their sights on the out-of-favour Sirigu, who has lost his place to Kevin Trapp at the Parc des Princes.

The French champions want to keep hold of Sirigu as they see him as a viable back-up to Trapp but the 29-year-old Italian is wary of jeopardising his place in the national squad if he remains in Paris.

According to L'Equipe, Fiorentina are planning to lure Sirigu back to his home country but may not be able to compete with Liverpool and Everton's financial power in the transfer market.

But the report claims Sirigu is keen on returning to Italy next term and is ready to snub big-money deals from the Premier League.
