Liverpool are set to recruit Bayern Munich’s fitness coach Andreas Kornmayer this summer to fill a significant gap in their backroom staff.

Kornmayer has worked with Bayern for much of his professional life and has been an integral part of the first team set up since July 2010, working with Pep Guardiola and Jupp Heynkes.

Rylands Morgan, whose contract was set to expire at the end of this season, suddenly left his role as head of fitness and conditioning two weeks ago. He had held the post since September 2012.

The Reds have a precious away goal from last week's 1-1 draw in Germany, given to them by Divock Origi and Klopp's main dilemma appears to be whether to start with the young Belgium international, England striker Daniel Sturridge or, less likely, play both.

Origi came off the bench to strike twice in Sunday's 4-1 win over Stoke in which Sturridge, who started, also scored.
