Liverpool have reportedly muscled in on Tottenham's pursuit of Malaga midfielder Ignacio Camacho.

Camacho, 25, has a £10million release clause and is expected to leave Malaga this summer.

The Spanish outfit are said to be pushing for a new contract in order to stop their star man leaving on the cheap.

But the Daily Mirror claim Liverpool are likely to wrap up a deal for the Spaniard.

According to the claims, Liverpool scouts have been impressed by Camacho's domestic displays this season.

The Reds have kept tabs on the former Spain U21 player, while he is also on Spurs' radar.

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is expected to do big business during the summer transfer windows and plans are reputedly already in place to bid for a number of players.

However, the Daily Mirror claim Liverpool are in pole position to sign Camacho and have stepped up their interest in recent weeks.
