Liverpool and Manchester United have been dealt a huge boost in their pursuit of Lazio midfielder Lucas Biglia.

The Premier League pair are reportedly keen on signing the Argentina international when the transfer window reopens in January.

The 29-year-old - valued at £21million by Lazio - has also been heavily linked with a move to Serie A rivals Inter Milan in recent weeks.

But Inter boss Roberto Mancini has rubbished the rumours, insisting he isn't in the market for a defensive midfielder.

"Biglia? I don't think so," the Italian said in response to the speculation. "We may need somebody at other positions."

Biglia's agent, Enzo Montepaone, admitted last month that he's due to speak to Lazio president Claudio Lotito regarding his client's future.

He said: “We have to speak with Lazio and Lotito, they’ll decide if the player will leave in January. I’ll be in Italy next week, so we’ll see."
