Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will try to lure Bayer Leverkusen striker Stefan Kiessling to Anfield in January.

Klopp tried to sign the 31-year-old German during his time in charge of Borussia Dortmund and remains a big admirer of the target man.

With Daniel Sturridge still on the sidelines, Klopp is eager to add another forward to his ranks in January and will make Kiessling his first port of call in January, according to German daily Express.

Kiessling has seven caps for Germany but has not made an international appearance since the 2010 World Cup after falling out with national coach Joachim Low.

He began his senior career at FC Nurnberg before joining Leverkusen in 2006.
