Two Merseyside families who lost loved ones at Hillsborough are making a final appeal for witnesses before their inquests next week.

The inquests into the 96 deaths at the semi-final on April 15, 1989, will hear evidence about 19-year-old Paul Carlile and 47-year-old Henry Burke, both from Kirkby, on Tuesday.

The jury had been due to hear evidence about Paul on Wednesday but it was postponed after traffic problems caused the hearing to be delayed.

Paul’s sister, Donna Miller, said the family are happy the evidence will now be heard on the same day as Henry’s - as the two families have become friends in the 26 years after the disaster.

She said: “Two Kirkby men whose families have been left devastated by our loss.

“We are both desperate for information relating to Paul and Henry.”

Earlier this month Operation Resolve - the criminal investigation into the disaster - released two videos in the hope of tracking down people who helped Paul on the day.

The clips showed people who carried casualties across the concourse behind the West Stand, through exit gate C and to waiting ambulances.

Donna said: “It’s so frustrating for the family knowing that lads helped him and took him to gate C. All we want is to thank them. They were the last ones with Paul.”

A photo of a fan who helped Henry has also been released by Operation Resolve.

His son Ian said: “We’ve been trying to find out what happened to our dad for 26 and a half years and we’re not going to give up now.

“Tuesday is our last chance to put as many pieces of the puzzle together as we can and we’d beg as many people as possible to share this appeal. We just want to thank those who helped our dad for what they did.”

All of the Operation Resolve appeals can be seen online at www.operationresolve.co.uk.
