AFC Liverpool have been promoted to the North West Counties Premier Division following a bizarre turn of events at the League AGM on Saturday morning.

After Rossendale United gave no indication to the League Management Committee that they wish to remain members of the league for season 2011-12 and failed to pay their league membership fee by the required deadline in addition to non-payment of other fines and general maladministration over the past few months, a decision was taken to expel them from the division.

It created a vacancy in the Premier League, which was offered to Holker Old Boys as they finished third in Division One last term.

But, after Holker turned down the offer, the additional place was snapped up by the team who finished fourth in Division One - AFC Liverpool.

They will now compete in the 22-club Premier League in 2011-12.
