Jürgen Klopp was today asked for an update on a potential new contract for Jordan Henderson.

The Liverpool captain linked up with the squad again last weekend having represented England during the run to the Euro 2020 final in the summer.

Henderson then made his first appearance of pre-season as a 71st-minute substitute in Monday’s 3-1 friendly win over CA Osasuna at Anfield.

As he previewed Saturday’s Premier League opener against Norwich City at a press conference, Klopp was asked about the importance of ‘resolving’ the No.14’s future.

“Important, but it will happen,” replied the manager. “We will sort it, we will sort it – however it will be then. But we will sort it, no doubt about that. It will get sorted.”

On Henderson heading into the 2021-22 campaign with positivity, Klopp added: “I spoke yesterday to him and it looked like that, yes.”
