Jürgen Klopp outlines Liverpool's objective for the remainder of the season during his notes for today's official matchday programme.

“With the international games now over until the summer, we must go for everything that we can,” the boss writes, ahead of this afternoon’s Premier League clash with Aston Villa at Anfield.

“Of course, we want to finish as high as we possibly can in the Premier League but we also know that where we finish is not entirely in our hands anymore.

“The only thing we can do is focus on ourselves and how we play and make sure that we give our best between now and the end of the season. So the message is: let’s go for it.

“We have a tough programme ahead of us but we understand that the only way to achieve what we want to in the rest of the season is by winning football games and that’s what we will be aiming to do.

“We have had two mixed results since we returned to the pitch after the international break.

“First of all we had a really good victory at Arsenal last weekend. We were defensively solid and gave ourselves a good basis to play our football. I think that performance showed everybody that we will keep on fighting until our final game.

“I think that was important because we can talk about it all we like, but we have to go and show that we mean it out on the pitch.

“Unfortunately, we did not play so well in midweek when we were defeated away to Real Madrid in the first leg of our Champions League quarter-final.

“Of course, it was a disappointing feeling afterwards and we know that we will need to be much better when we play the return match here at Anfield next Wednesday, but for now our only focus is on Aston Villa.

“Every game in the Premier League is demanding and there is no doubt that we will need to be at our very best this afternoon if we are to come away with the result that we want.”
