Jürgen Klopp expects Liverpool to be without Thiago Alcantara, Naby Keita and Joel Matip for Tuesday night's Champions League fixture against FC Midtjylland.

Though the trio are edging closer to a return, the Reds boss indicated the Anfield clash with the Danish champions is likely to arrive too soon.

He told his pre-match press conference: "It's still what I said last week, we look day by day.

"It looks like we will need a few more days. For tomorrow night, they probably will not be ready."

Klopp did, however, report he has no fresh injury concerns to contend with on the back of Saturday's 2-1 victory over Sheffield United in the Premier League.

Alisson Becker made a comeback in the win over the Blades, having returned from his collarbone injury ahead of schedule.

Asked whether he still felt pain in the shoulder area, the goalkeeper told reporters on Monday: "Nothing that puts limits on my way to play – I'm really 100 per cent fit to play and I'm comfortable with that."

Virgil van Dijk, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Kostas Tsimikas remain unavailable for Liverpool.

For Midtjylland, meanwhile, first-choice custodian Jesper Hansen was forced off after an hour of their win over Brondby IF at the weekend and will undergo a late fitness test.

Brazilian forward Junior Brumado is a doubt for Brian Priske's side, while centre-back Kristian Dirks Riis is ruled out.

"Jesper is here with us and he will be training with us tonight," Priske told journalists on Monday evening. "Then we will know more."

On facing Liverpool, the Midtjylland head coach added: "We need to be able to remain confident and calm. There's no doubt defensively we will have to stay compact and work hard for each other."
