Earlier on Friday, Takumi Minamino played 71 minutes for Japan as they drew 0-0 with Cameroon in a friendly hosted in Utrecht.

Meanwhile on Saturday evening, Xherdan Shaqiri's birthday ended in disappointment as he came on to play the remaining half an hour in Switzerland's 1-0 defeat by Spain in the UEFA Nations League.
