Jürgen Klopp will take charge of the 100th European match of his managerial career on Wednesday night when Liverpool face Napoli in the Champions League.

The Group E encounter at Anfield is the German's 47th continental tie in charge of the Reds - the same number he recorded in seven seasons with Borussia Dortmund.

FSV Mainz 05 were the first team he guided into European competition, taking charge of six UEFA Cup qualifying fixtures in the 2005-06 campaign.

Of his previous 99 matches, Klopp has won 53 of them, recording 21 draws and suffering 25 defeats.

Liverpool will be through to the knockout stages of the Champions League if they beat Napoli, or if Salzburg do not beat Genk. The Reds can clinch first place with a win.

The teams are meeting in the group stages for the second successive Champions League season. All three encounters have resulted in home victories, with the away team failing to score in each fixture.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has scored three goals in his last two European displays and netted five times in his 10 European appearances for the Reds.

Mohamed Salah has scored 12 Champions League goals at Anfield - only Steven Gerrard with 18 has more. Salah's haul has come in just 14 appearances.

The Egyptian could become (after Gerrard again) only the second Red to net 20 goals in Europe's premier competition.

Liverpool have lost one of the last 29 at home in Europe and are unbeaten in the last 24 at Anfield.

Klopp's side have won each of the last 28 games in which they have scored the first goal.

Only three times previously have Liverpool had qualification from a Champions League group secured before matchday six - the last time being back in 2008-09.

In nine previous visits to England, Napoli have never won - drawing one and losing the other eight.

Napoli boss Carlo Ancelotti was the second manager after Bob Paisley to win the European Cup three times. Ancelotti has faced Liverpool with four different teams - AC Milan, Chelsea and Real Madrid being the others.

Ancelotti's side have kept one clean sheet in their last seven league and cup matches.

The referee for this game is Carlos Del Cerro Grande of Spain. He has never refereed the Reds before but took charge of Napoli's 3-1 loss at Salzburg in last season's Europa League round of 16.
