Jürgen Klopp expects Andy Robertson to be back in training within a few days after the Liverpool defender underwent a minor procedure to deal with an infection.

The Scot returned for pre-season on Saturday morning but is being monitored by the club’s medical team following the hand surgery, before beginning his programme.

And Klopp is sure Robertson, who will be part of the travelling squad to the USA next week, will be ready to re-join his teammates soon.

“It’s unlucky, he got bitten by something not so good – not a dog, I think it was a spider or a mosquito – and it got infected,” the manager told Liverpoolfc.com.

“It’s not a massive problem apart from throw-ins!

“He should be back in training in a couple of days. The rest is good, he could do all of the programme he had to do.”
