Premier League leaders Liverpool travel to reigning champions Manchester City on Thursday night for a match that could have a significant impact at the top of the table.

Jürgen Klopp's Reds lead Pep Guardiola's City by seven points and the LFC manager can call upon an excellent head-to-head record against his counterpart.

Since the pair first met in English football in December 2016, Klopp has overseen four wins and two draws in seven clashes with Guardiola.

Over the course of his career, former Borussia Dortmund coach Klopp has won eight of 15 fixtures against the ex-Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss - more than any other manager in the game.

Liverpool have won more league fixtures at Manchester City than the home side themselves - they lead 30 victories to 29. Both teams have scored 121 times.

The Reds have drawn 10 times at City in the Premier League era, with only their fixtures at Arsenal (11) producing more stalemates.

Roberto Firmino scored his debut Liverpool goal against Manchester City in a 4-1 win at the Etihad Stadium in November 2015.

The Reds have not lost any of the 23 away matches in all competitions in which Firmino has scored (20 wins, three draws).

With 43 goals, the LFC No.9 is now the highest-scoring Brazilian of the Premier League era.

Liverpool are unbeaten in their last 10 away league games - their best run since 1992 when they also recorded 10. It is the joint-sixth longest run in their history.

Should they avoid defeat, 11 will be their best streak since 1989, when they went 14 top-flight league games unbeaten away from Anfield.

LFC forward Xherdan Shaqiri could play for the 100th time in the Premier League.

Daniel Sturridge could make the 150th appearance of his Reds career in all competitions.

Mohamed Salah has scored in three of his last four appearances against City. He has found the net seven times in his last six appearances this season for the Reds in league and cup.

Since their 5-0 defeat at the Etihad in September 2017 - Klopp's heaviest loss as a manager - Liverpool have lost four of 54 league games, winning 36 and drawing 14.

A victory would see the Reds win 10 league games in a row for the first time since they took maximum points in 11 successive top-flight matches during the 2013-14 season.

City striker Sergio Aguero has scored in all six of his Premier League appearances against Liverpool at the Etihad.
