Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold scored his first England goal in Thursday's 3-0 friendly win against USA at Wembley.

The 20-year-old was named in Gareth Southgate’s starting XI and, after Jesse Lingard’s opener, doubled the lead with a powerful low drive across goal on 27 minutes.

Alexander-Arnold played the whole match while Reds captain Jordan Henderson was introduced as a 58th-minute substitute, with Callum Wilson adding a third for the home team.

Earlier in the evening, Liverpool’s Dominic Solanke bagged a double to earn England U21s a 2-1 victory in their friendly with Italy.

The striker was on target once in each half in Ferrara, his first effort a firm header back across goal from a left-wing cross on eight minutes.

After the hosts levelled the game shortly before the interval, Solanke produced a winner for the Young Lions early in the second half, guiding a finish beyond the goalkeeper from close range.

At U18 level, Curtis Jones started for England against Netherlands – the opening match of a tournament in Spain ended 2-2.

Dejan Lovren was involved for the entirety of Croatia’s UEFA Nations League tie at home to Spain, where the World Cup finalists grabbed a 3-2 success in the last minute.

Goalkeepers Caoimhin Kelleher and Simon Mignolet were unused substitutes in Republic of Ireland’s stalemate with Northern Ireland and Belgium’s 2-0 win over Iceland respectively.
