Jürgen Klopp has explained why Naby Keita's 'specific skills' earned him a start in the Champions League clash with Napoli.

The midfielder replaces Jordan Henderson in the starting line-up at Stadio San Paolo – the only change made by the manager from the weekend draw with Chelsea.

Asked for the reasons behind the switch of Keita and Henderson, he told BT Sport: “Fresh legs and the opportunity to do it.

“Hendo has played a lot of games now and didn’t have a perfect pre-season. That’s what I decided. I want to have Naby’s specific skills in between the lines.”

On the opposition, Klopp said: “We are not 100 per cent sure about the Napoli line-up but it looks like a 4-3-3 and they changed a little bit.

“It’s quite offensive but without [Piotr] Zielinski and [Dries] Mertens; they brought one more midfielder in, that’s how it looks in the moment.

“That shows they have a home game and want to decide it here. They respect us; that’s what we do with them as well. Now let’s play the game.”
