Virgil van Dijk spoke of his pride at the endeavours of the Netherlands as they slipped to a narrow 2-1 defeat to World Cup winners France in Paris on Sunday night.
The Liverpool centre-back captained his country and was joined in the starting XI by clubmate Georginio Wijnaldum for the UEFA Nations League tie.
After falling behind to Kylian Mbappe’s opener, former Red Ryan Babel equalised during a sustained spell of pressure from the Netherlands in the second half.
However, Chelsea’s Oliver Giroud secured the win for Les Blues with a volley on 75 minutes.
