Van Dijk and Mane up for Premier League August award
Sadio Mane and Virgil van Dijk have been shortlisted for the Premier League Player of the Month for August award.
The duo have been included on the seven-man list for the accolade after their roles in Liverpool’s unblemished start to 2018-19.
Mane has scored three times so far this term, grabbing a brace on the opening weekend against West Ham United before following that up with a strike in the 2-0 win at Crystal Palace.
Van Dijk, meanwhile, has been in imperious form, helping the Reds to three successive clean sheets.
They face competition from Marcos Alonso (Chelsea), Neil Etheridge (Cardiff City), Benjamin Mendy (Manchester City), Lucas Moura (Tottenham Hotspur) and Roberto Pereyra (Watford).
