Trent Alexander-Arnold is set to get his first minutes of pre-season this evening as Liverpool face Napoli at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.

The right-back returned to Reds training earlier this week after representing England at the World Cup this summer.

He was named on the substitutes’ bench for the friendly against the Serie A side and Jürgen Klopp confirmed ahead of kick-off that Alexander-Arnold is likely to feature at some point.

Asked about his team selection, the manager told Liverpoolfc.com: “Naby didn’t play two or three games, Gini didn’t play a lot of games – so they start today.

“Yesterday, Ragnar Klavan had a little – but enough – muscle thing, he cannot play. So Trent will have his first minutes today as well, not from the start.

“We still test things, we still try things but we have one week more to find the line-up for West Ham and that’s the most important thing.”

Alisson Becker makes his debut in goal for Liverpool following his switch to the club from AS Roma last month.

The Brazil international officially began life with the Reds when he joined the training camp in Evian, France at the beginning of the week.

“He has looked really good. He is more a thinker than speaker but I speak enough already, so that’s OK!” said Klopp of the goalkeeper.

“We have to work together today. Today is not a test; we decided already that he is a world-class goalkeeper, that’s why we brought him in. Now let’s play football together.”
