Liverpool's friendly with Torino on Tuesday night is the perfect warm-up for their Premier League opener at home to West Ham United, according to Andy Robertson.

The Reds will conclude a nine-game pre-season fixture schedule by returning to Anfield and facing a side they have never previously met on the pitch.

Tickets for the 7.30pm BST kick-off are available from £5 for juniors, with a day of activities also planned in the city and at the stadium around the match.

It’s a chance to bring pre-season back to Liverpool – and a crucial opportunity for the players, particularly the four new signings, to acclimatise again.

“I think a game at Anfield in front of our fans can get us used to playing at home again,” Robertson told the official Liverpool FC magazine.

“A few of the lads who were at the World Cup went quite deep into the tournament so they’ll be back in training quite late, so it’ll be good for them to maybe get a game before the season starts.

“It’s also good for us to get used to our surroundings again, especially the new signings who can get a feel for Anfield before it comes on the Sunday because if it takes you 10 to 15 minutes on the Sunday, then that’s time you don’t really have because we need to be ready to go from the first whistle.

“It will get them used to the surroundings and it will give us the feeling back of playing at Anfield and then we’ll be good to go against West Ham.”
