Dejan Lovren was celebrating after Croatia fought back from a goal down to beat England 2-1 in the World Cup semi-final on Wednesday night.

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson started for the Three Lions and Trent Alexander-Arnold remained on the bench.

Gareth Southgate's side got off to a dream start when they took an early lead on five minutes courtesy of a brilliant free-kick from Kieran Trippier.

England had some great chances to increase their advantage but Croatia levelled on 68 minutes through Ivan Perisic.

Extra-time then followed when Henderson was withdrawn in favour of Eric Dier in the 97th minute.

Lovren lasted the full distance as Croatia grabbed the winner on 109 minutes when Juventus striker Mario Mandzukic pounced to make it 2-1.

Lovren's Croatia will now meet France in Sunday's World Cup final.

England face Belgium in Saturday's third and fourth place play-off.
