Jordan Henderson said winning trophies is in Liverpool’s DNA and insisted his teammates are full of belief heading into Saturday’s Champions League final.

The Reds have scored a record-breaking 46 goals en route to their meeting with Real Madrid in Kiev.

And, while their opponents are seeking a third consecutive Champions League title, Liverpool's captain feels his side can deny them if they can replicate the level of performance that has propelled them to the final.

Read on for a summary of Henderson's pre-match press conference from the NSC Olimpiyskiy Stadium...

On how it feels to following in the footsteps of Steven Gerrard, Liverpool's last European Cup-winning skipper...

I'm feeling good! But it's not about me. It's not about filling anyone else’s shoes. It's about this team and it's about us creating our own history, like I've said before. We have done fantastically well to get this to point. But we want to go one step further and be remembered for the right reasons and that's us winning the Champions League.

On the difficulties faced by some fans in getting to Kiev…

It's obviously disappointing. It’s difficult for them now, probably, to try and get over here. I'm disappointed for them to not be able to come and make the final. Although hopefully they can find an alternative route. But if they can't, I'm sure they will support us back in Liverpool.

On Real's knack of finding a way to win games…

Anything can happen in any game you play, but especially in a Champions League final. So we need to be prepared for anything and everything. We know that Real Madrid are a fantastic team with fantastic players but we also believe that we are a good team as well. We need to go and perform to the level that I know we are capable of. And I feel if we can do that then we can definitely hurt Madrid.

On the comparing the styles of Jürgen Klopp and Zinedine Zidane…

I can't really compare because I don't know what Zidane is like. But for our manager, as I have said in previous press conferences, as players we are very privileged that he's our manager and we learn a lot from him. What he has done since he came to the club is incredible really. So, of course, I'm sure he'll be intense on the sidelines but that's good for us as players. You can see that, and that's the way we like to play as well.

On the influence of the fans…

The fans are a massive part of this club and played a massive part in us getting this far in the competition. I'm sure Madrid will have a lot of fans as well. I'm not sure how many will be here tomorrow, but hopefully our fans can create an atmosphere similar to Anfield because it has made a big difference to us throughout the competition.

On whether lessons can be learned from the 2016 Europa League final defeat…

It was difficult to not get the Europa League but I feel as though we can use that experience in this final. It obviously hurt that night and you never really forget that but you can use that as motivation and you can use that going forward. We have certainly done that since that night and we have definitely moved forward. But it's also important for us to win trophies and hopefully we can start by winning one tomorrow.

On this team’s chances of winning a trophy…

The club, especially in the European Cup, have won it a quite a few times so it's in the DNA of Liverpool Football Club to win trophies and we as a team want to win trophies - for us, but also for the fans and the club. We are going in the right direction to do that.
