Representing Liverpool in the Champions League qualifies as a ‘dream come true’ for Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The teenage Academy graduate has impressed during the Reds’ run to the final of Europe’s premier club competition, playing 11 times in the tournament so far this term.

And Alexander-Arnold, speaking after collecting the Young Player of the Season prize for the second year in a row at Liverpool’s Players’ Awards ceremony, wants to take his number of appearances to a dozen against Real Madrid in Kiev on May 26.

“[It’s] a dream come true. There’s something special about the Champions League and it’s always been a dream to play in that competition and to get the chance to, especially 11 times, it’s an honour and I love doing it and hopefully I’ll get the chance in the final,” the 19-year-old told Liverpoolfc.com.

Alexander-Arnold has featured in 32 games for his boyhood club across all competitions during 2017-18, taking his total number of first-team appearances to 43 - a tally he will strive to increase further in the years ahead.

“It’s an honour every time I get the chance to go out on to the pitch, whether it be starting or as a sub, so I’m just happy to get on the pitch whenever I can,” he continued.

“Hopefully there’ll be many more appearances to come.

“I think I’m always willing to learn and listen to the coaches and the manager and listen to the advice of the players in the team as well, so whenever I get the advice I try and take it on board and just try and help myself get better.”
