The Dutchman is the cousin of former Real Madrid and Everton winger Royston Drenthe, while his younger brother Giliano has represented Eredivisie clubs AZ Alkmaar, Groningen and Go Ahead Eagles.
Wijnaldum’s half-brother, Rajiv van La Parra, plays for Huddersfield Town.
