No.5: Phil Neal
The most decorated player in our history, Phil Neal scored the winning goal in the 1977 European Cup final and also netted in the 1984 European Cup final against AS Roma. He played in all of Liverpool’s first four European Cup triumphs and sends this message.
“I’d like to say good luck to Jürgen and the boys. All of the former players are rooting for you and we know you can do it.
“I think for Jürgen Klopp to take us to two finals in his first season with the club is phenomenal really.
“I just hope we will be celebrating and lifting some silverware on Wednesday night because the boys and the manager deserve it.
“The key on the night is staying-power. If we could win the Europa League it would be a fantastic achievement. This is longer than any other cup competition to win with so many games to play, and we have had some fantastic nights leading up to this final.”
