In at number seven is one of the deadliest strikers the world has ever seen, Ian Rush.

It was Bob Paisley who grabbed what could be considered as the bargain of the century when Rush arrived from Chester City in 1980, and by the time he left for Leeds United in 1996, he was Liverpool's all-time record goalscorer with 346 goals.

He took a while to really get going in a red shirt, but once he found his scoring boots there would be no stopping him. The prolific Welshman struck fear into every defence across the continent.

After a spell with Leeds United, it was his former strike partner and manager Kenny Dalglish who brought him to Tyneside.

Rush was never as prolific in a black and white shirt but he did famously keep us his knack for scoring against Everton, when he netted an FA Cup winner against the Blues at Goodison Park.
