We kick-off with one of the best players to ever wear a red shirt, John Barnes.

Barnes spent his best years at Anfield, marauding down the left flank, dipping the shoulder as he waltzed through defences. Between 1987 and 1990, Barnes was simply unstoppable as he played a major role in the Reds winning two league titles and an FA Cup.

Kenny Dalglish signed him for Liverpool in 1987 and, a decade later, brought him to Tyneside for a reunion.

In the famous black and white stripes, Barnes was a central midfielder who kept the ball and passed it simply and effectively.

In 1998, Barnes took to the Wembley turf in Newcastle colours for what would be his fifth FA Cup final appearance as a player. But it was to be a disappointing day as Arsenal ran out 2-0 winners.
