Liverpool Ladies' latest recruit Asisat Oshoala made a special visit to Melwood on Wednesday afternoon to meet Kolo Toure, who recently won the Africa Cup of Nations with Ivory Coast.

African Women's Player of the Year, Oshoala, was extended a special invitation to visit the Reds' training ground in West Derby to meet Toure and watch the first team train.

Matt Beard's side are currently preparing for the upcoming Women's Super League campaign having retained the league title on the final day in 2014.

The Reds begin their WSL campaign with a home game against Sunderland Ladies on Wednesday March 25 at the Select Security Stadium in Widnes, with kick-off scheduled for 7.45pm GMT.

Speaking of her visit to Melwood, Asisat said: "It's a real pleasure to have been invited down to Melwood to meet Kolo and watch the first team train. It's fantastic to see the players train at close quarters and I have found today a privilege.

"We are currently preparing for the upcoming Women's Super League season, so to be able to come to watch the first team on my day off is extremely beneficial.

"Since joining the club I have been overwhelmed by the messages of support both myself and the team have received, which highlights what a massive club this is."

Asisat also spoke of her excitement ahead of her first season wearing the famous red shirt,  adding: "I cannot wait for the season to start. Although we've played quite a few pre-season friendlies, there is nothing better than playing competitively and I am really excited about my first season in England.

"Having spoken to a few of the other players, I know that the Liverpool supporters are amongst the best in the country and I hope that we get their fantastic backing throughout the 2015 season."
