Martin Skrtel celebrated seven years as a Red on Sunday and admitted: 'Liverpool are now in my heart'.

The Slovakian centre-back arrived at Anfield from Zenit St Petersburg in January 2008 and has since made 270 appearances for the club, scoring 17 goals.

Reflecting on the anniversary, Skrtel wrote on his official website: "It is a great honour for me to play seven years for Liverpool.

"We've had some great moments together and I am really happy that I am part of this all. Liverpool are now in my heart."

Skrtel's latest action came during Saturday's victory at Sunderland, where he helped Liverpool keep a clean sheet in a 1-0 triumph.

"It was our second win in a row after Wimbledon and I am happy for the result," said the 30-year-old.

"We scored one, we have three points and that is all that matters.

"I hope this result will help our confidence and that it will serve as a boost for us. We have some tough games coming so every win is good for us."
