Liverpool centre-back Mamadou Sakho and his family made a special Christmas visit to All Saints Primary School in Anfield to attend one of the children's festive assemblies.

Sakho took time out after his training session at Melwood to support the school's Christmas celebrations with his wife Majda and daughter Aida.

The visit included a special Christmas awards assembly followed by a raffle, with prizes such as a Liverpool shirt and football boots signed by Sakho on offer to raise funds for the Ebola crisis.

At the end of the assembly, Sakho made a donation to the school's collection, which will be sent directly to their partner school in Waterloo near Freetown in Sierra Leone.

The Ebola issue is something Sakho has been keen to help tackle and he regularly supports families in West Africa through his charity, AMSAK.

The 24-year-old French International has visited the school several times this year as part of his ambassadorial role with the club's charity, Liverpool FC Foundation.

He is actively involved in assisting with the Foundation's 'On the Ball' project, which aims to improve attendance and punctuality, raise numeracy and literacy skills, increase physical activity levels and increase academic achievement.

Headteacher Jeremy Barnes said: "Not only does Mamadou help with football coaching and French in school, he is also helping to support our friends suffering in Africa.

"His generous donation will be added to the children's own donations, raffles and cake sales, which will support the fight against Ebola."

Sakho said: "I have really enjoyed supporting the school's 'On the Ball' programme this year, helping to inspire the children and watching their skills develop. I am already looking forward to continuing my ambassadorial role with the Foundation next year.

"Today's Christmas assembly was fantastic and it's lovely to be able to share in the school's celebrations and contribute to their Ebola crisis fund, which is such an important cause. "
