Make sure you tune in to LFC TV at 9pm BST on Friday to relive the achievements of Bill Shankly's first great side as we mark the 50th anniversary of the great man's first title triumph at Liverpool.

Half a century ago today, the turnstiles had to be locked at Anfield an hour before kick-off as Shankly's Reds met Arsenal, knowing a victory would secure them the First Division title.

They were emphatic 5-0 winners. Roger Hunt, Alf Arrowsmith, Ian St John and two from Peter Thompson sealed the title - and it would have been more had Ian Callaghan not had a penalty saved by former Reds stopper Jim Furnell.

Shankly's dynasty had begun, the nation awoke to the sound of the Scotsman's red army - and so tonight, we fittingly launch the pilot episode of a forthcoming new series.

Peter McDowall is joined by Ian St John, Tommy Lawrence and journalist John Keith to reflect on the momentous title-winning campaign.
