The makers of a new play chronicling the complete history of Liverpool Football Club are asking Reds supporters to decide which five club legends should appear on the accompanying artwork.

'The Official History of Liverpool Football Club' takes fans on a theatrical journey from the founding fathers, John Houlding and John McKenna, to Bill Shankly's Anfield revolution and through to the modern day and Brendan Rodgers.

One stunning show captures 120 years of Liverpool history, recounting the tales of five European Cups, the heroes who have worn Red, the triumphs and the tragedies, and sharing the unforgettable songs which have provided the soundtrack.

It is written by Nicky Allt, a lifelong Red who previously achieved success with 'One Night in Istanbul' and the original edition of his new venture, 'You'll Never Walk Alone - the Legend of Liverpool FC'.

Now you can play an integral role in shaping the design which will adorn the show - by choosing a quintet of unforgettable icons to group around the famous Liver Bird emblem for the artwork.

Among the 13 names put forward for selection are Shankly and Bob Paisley, who carried the Reds to new heights during the 1960s and '70s, plus their future heir Kenny Dalglish and record appearance holder Ian Callaghan.

Goal-getters Robbie Fowler, Kevin Keegan and Ian Rush are all included, while current Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard and the recently-retired Jamie Carragher represent the 21st century standard of the club.

Completing the 13 are Scottish post-war hero Billy Liddell, one of our finest ever custodians, Elisha Scott, the man who lifted our first two European Cups, 'Crazy Horse' Emlyn Hughes and John Barnes - the flying winger who changed English football.

Who deserves to take pride of place on the poster? Which five names are forever entwined with the history of Liverpool FC? Have your say now by casting a vote in our online poll below.
