Martin Skrtel was today crowned as the Standard Chartered Player of the Month for February.
The defender scooped the accolade after a month in which he played a starring role in helping Liverpool end a six-year wait for silverware.
Skrtel started all four of Liverpool's matches in February and followed up a goal in the 6-1 FA Cup victory over Brighton by netting a crucial equaliser in the Carling Cup final against Cardiff at Wembley.
The Slovakia international was the overwhelming winner following a vote on this website, collecting 46 per cent of the total.
It meant he finished ahead of Dirk Kuyt, who claimed 13 per cent, and third-placed Andy Carroll (12 per cent).
After receiving his award at Melwood, Skrtel told Liverpoolfc.tv: "I would like to say thank you very much. I am very happy.
"February was a very good month for all of us because we won the Carling Cup, and I happy to have won this trophy and also the Carling Cup.
"I've scored four goals so far and it's the most I've scored in one season in my career, but the season is not finished yet and I hope I can get a few more goals before the end of the season."
While Liverpool enjoyed success in the cups in February, in the Barclays Premier League they were held to a draw against Tottenham at Anfield before losing 2-1 against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Nonetheless, Skrtel insists no-one within the squad is ready to give up on their hopes of a top-four finish.
He added: "Fourth place is still the target. We couldn't get more points in the games against Tottenham and Manchester United, and also against Arsenal.
"Now there is a gap between us and fourth place, but the season is not finished yet. We still have a chance and we'll fight until the end.
"We start on Saturday against Sunderland, which is a very important game for us. We'll just go from game to game and try to get as many points as we can, and I hope we can reach our target."
