Head to head (league only):
At Old Trafford: Liverpool 15 wins, United 38 wins, 25 draws.
Overall: Liverpool 53 wins, United 60 wins, 44 draws.

The sides have met twice at Anfield this campaign. In the league fixture in October, Steven Gerrard scored on his first start of the season with Javier Hernandez equalising five minutes from time. Gerrard's goal was Liverpool's 1,200th in the Premier League.

Last month, in the fourth round of the FA Cup, the Reds won 2-1 at Anfield. Daniel Agger's 21st minute header was cancelled out by Ji-Sung Park six minutes before half-time, but Dirk Kuyt with his fourth goal against United won the game in the 88th minute.

Last season at Old Trafford, United won 3-2 with two players - Dimitar Berbatov and Steven Gerrard - scoring the five goals between them. Berbatov gave United a two-goal lead just before the hour, but within 11 minutes Stevie's goals, the first a penalty, had levelled the game. The Bulgarian clinched the points for the home side with the winner on 84 minutes.

Liverpool's last win at Old Trafford came in March 2009 when Fernando Torres, Steven Gerrard (pen), Fabio Aurelio and Andrea Dossena all scored in a 4-1 win.

Of the 39 Premier League clashes between the teams there has only ever been one goalless draw. That came at Anfield in September 2005.

The last eight league fixtures between Liverpool and United have produced 27 goals.

The Reds' last visit to Old Trafford saw Kenny Dalglish return to the Anfield hot-seat as caretaker manager 13 months ago. Liverpool lost that FA Cup tie 1-0 after Ryan Giggs converted an early controversial penalty. Steven Gerrard was sent-off for the sixth time in his club career.

This season's fixture at Anfield was the only time in 12 league meetings home and away which did not produce a winner - four victories for Liverpool and seven for United.

This will be Kenny Dalglish's 15th league game against United as Liverpool manager. He has won the fixture four times to United's three wins with seven draws.

Liverpool have won 11 of the Premiership meetings with United winning 20. There have been eight draws.

The last Liverpool player to score a hat-trick at Old Trafford was Fred Howe in November 1936.

Liverpool's biggest win at Old Trafford came in November 1936 when they beat United 5-2, closely followed by the 4-1 win in 2009.

The Reds have won four times in the last 11 visits to Old Trafford but just once in the last seven.

The last 11 league meetings on this ground have produced a winner - four for Liverpool and seven for United.

They have won just 15 times on this ground in the league in 116 years.

The last four league meetings at Old Trafford have produced 16 goals.

Pepe Reina now has 10 clean sheets in the Premier League this season - the most along with Manchester City's Joe Hart.

Steven Gerrard has scored three goals in his last three league visits to Old Trafford - two from the penalty spot.

Charlie Adam scored on this ground on the final day of last season in Blackpool's 4-2 defeat, while Craig Bellamy scored twice in Manchester City's 4-3 defeat at Old Trafford two seasons ago.

Daniel Agger's only Liverpool goal in the last 22 months is the one he scored to help beat United 2-1 in the FA Cup a fortnight ago.

Liverpool have won more league games away from home this season (six) than they did in either of the last two campaigns.

The Reds have kept six clean sheets in the last 10 league games.

Since Martin Skrtel and Daniel Agger were paired together at West Brom in October, Liverpool have conceded 11 goals in 14 league games, keeping seven clean sheets. In that time they have only conceded more than once on two occasions - at Manchester City and Bolton.

United were unbeaten at home last season in the league but have already lost two at Old Trafford this season (Manchester City 1-6) and Blackburn (2-3). This after losing only eight times in the previous seven seasons in front of their own fans.

United have never lost at home more than twice and gone on to win the Premier League title.

Prior to that 6-1 demolition by neighbours City in October United had won 19 successive home league games. They have since dropped more points - drawn with Newcastle and lost to Blackburn.

City became the visiting team in 81 years to score six at Old Trafford, while in the defeat by Blackburn, United became the first team to score 1,500 Premier League goals.

The last visiting team to keep a clean sheet at Old Trafford was Rangers in a goalless Champions League game in September 2010. Since then United have scored in all 42 home matches in all competitions.

The last occasion they failed to hit the net at home in the league was in December 2009 when Aston Villa - with Stewart Downing in the team - drew 0-0. United have scored in all 42 home league games since.

If they score on Saturday they will break their top-flight club record, previously set between 1955-57, by finding the net in their 43rd successive league game at Old Trafford.

United have been in front at half-time in 200 Premier League games at Old Trafford - they have never lost, having recorded 188 wins and 12 draws.

They conceded only 12 league goals at home in the league last season. Already this campaign they have shipped 14 at Old Trafford.

Only Chelsea (19) of the top eight clubs have conceded more at home than United.

Wayne Rooney has missed six of his 16 career Premier League spot-kicks, including four of the last 10. He netted twice from the spot at Chelsea last Sunday.

Last Sunday's 3-3 draw at Chelsea was the third time United have come from three goals down in a Premier League match to avoid defeat.

Wayne Rooney's spot-kick double last weekend meant United became the first team ever in the Premier League to score four consecutive goals from penalty kicks. Rooney has scored four goals in his last four games in league and cup.

Dimitar Berbatov's hat-trick at Old Trafford last season was the first by a United player against the Reds since Stan Pearson in September 1946. Berbatov made his United debut against Liverpool at Anfield in September 2008.

Ryan Giggs this season scored for the 23rd campaign in succession.

United have not kept a clean sheet in the last seven league meetings against Liverpool home and away.

A win would take United back to the top of the table overnight for the first time since October 14 - ironically their failure to beat Liverpool at Anfield a day later knocking them off the summit.

Since losing at home to Manchester City in October, United have won 11 of their 15 league games, losing only twice.

Liverpool have drawn three of their four games refereed by Phil Dowd this season - Sunderland and Swansea (home) in the league and Manchester City at Anfield in the League Cup. They recorded a win in their other game - at Chelsea in the League Cup.

He has awarded Liverpool a penalty in four of his last six games and has given two spot-kicks to United in their last four matches.
