In our latest interview with one of the club's emerging youngsters, we spoke to U18 midfielder Yalany Baio ahead of today's clash with Barnsley.

The Guinea-Bissau-born starlet's battling style of play bears a striking likeness to his hero Claude Makelele and he is already establishing himself as one to watch at the heart of Mike Marsh's midfield.

Here he tells us why Nacho's tunes get the thumbs-down, how he got some great tips from Joe Cole and why the Academy staff refer to him as Mr T.

Who would win at 'skill skool'?

It would be Jack Dunn. I like the way he moves the ball and he's got some neat tricks.

If you could holiday anywhere in the world, where would it be?

Guinea-Bissau. That's the country where I was born. I grew up in Portugal but if I could choose to go on holiday anywhere it would be Africa. It'd be nice to go back.

Last album downloaded?

It's an artist from Guinea you probably wouldn't know. I love African music.

Last film watched?

There's Something About Mary. It was on TV recently. A very funny film.

Favourite TV show?

I just love watching sport, so it wouldn't be a show but a channel. I enjoy watching Sky Sports. I live and breathe football. From League Two to Champions League, I'll watch it all.

Worst dresser?

Nathan Quirk. He wears a lot of white stuff which just isn't cool.

Worst taste in music?

Nacho. Spanish music isn't for me!

Best moment in football so far?

I trained with the first-team at Melwood a month or so ago. I was playing with Lucas Leiva, Jon Flanagan and Doni, the goalkeeper. They all gave me some good advice. I was also playing alongside Joe Cole before he left for Lille and he was great with me. I respect him a lot and hope he does well in France.

Worst or most embarrassing moment relating to football...

Last season I was playing for the U16s but I got injured and could only play 35 minutes of one particular match which was very frustrating. That's probably the worst thing that has happened to me since I came to Liverpool. It shows how good it has been.

Which three teammates would be the most useful to get trapped on a desert island with - and why?

Sam Gainford, Jordan Lussey and Dave Moli. Sam makes me laugh, he's a funny lad. I like Jordan's style and Dave is a good guy too.

If you could take one of the lads to have their haircut, who would it be?

That would be me! (Laughs). Mike Marsh calls me Mr T from the A-team. No-one likes my haircut. I don't know why. In Portugal it is one of the trendiest haircuts. I guess it's not for England.

Teammate who spends longest in the mirror?

Sam Gainford. He's never out of it.

Best ever player in your position?

Claude Makelele. I am an aggressive player who likes to tackle and I play with a similar style to him. He was someone I looked up to as a kid. I watched him on TV and tried to replicate his movement and style on the pitch.

Best thing about playing for LFC?

I'm just grateful to have this opportunity at such a massive club. I try to make the most of it every single moment of each day I am here and I hope that one day I will improve enough to play for the first-team.
