They revolutionised British football on the pitch during the 1960s, 70s and 80s, but how did our stars of the past fare when it came to life in the hot seat? We attempt to find out in our new series 'Managing the Liverpool Way' tonight at 10.30pm.

Having been so successful on the field for more than three decades - and schooled under the tutelage of legendary figures such as Bill Shankly, Bob Paisley, Joe Fagan and Kenny Dalglish - it's only logical some of Liverpool's icons of yesterday tried their own hand at management.

For some, success continued to come even after hanging up their boots - but for others, attempts to emulate their former bosses would prove much more difficult.

LFC TV's all new series 'Managing the Liverpool Way' examines the coaching careers of former Reds - and Ian St John is first under our spotlight tonight.

After an Anfield career that spanned a decade, 425 appearances, 118 goals, two league titles and an FA Cup, the Saint managed Portsmouth and Motherwell, as well as enjoying stints as a No.2 at Coventry and Sheffield Wednesday.

The Scot speaks candidly to Peter McDowall about his experiences - both positive and negative - during his time in the dugout and explains how the footballing education he received under Shankly helped shape his managerial livelihood.

Make sure you tune in at 10.30pm.
