Today Liverpool FC launched its latest range of ‘47 headwear with a photoshoot with a difference.

The club initially teamed up with Boston-based sport lifestyle brand, ’47, last season to bring fans a selection of new-look headwear. The latest ’47 assortment has been inspired by what it means to be a true Reds fan.

The range comes with the men’s and women’s bucket hats and caps in a variety of colours, including a passionate red and understated stone and black – they feature either the embroidered crest or Liverpool FC on the front. ’47 also produce headwear for children, as well as adults.

Behind the scenes of the stylish LFC and ’47 images is 30-year-old Nadia Atique – a fashion student from Liverpool with her eyes firmly on success.

She’s already been featured in Vogue, and won the runner-up accolade in the Tessuti Sports and Leisure Award, but it’s not just her fashion credentials that made her the perfect person to create this LFC and ‘47 shoot.

“Liverpool FC has always been a part of mine and my family's life”, says Nadia as she looks back fondly on the memories of her and her late father coming together to cheer their beloved Reds on towards success.

Born and raised in Anfield, Nadia’s family originates from Yemen, and just like her relatives, she is a huge football fan. And an even bigger Reds supporter, which inspired the critically acclaimed ‘modest wear’ collection she created for her degree at Liverpool John Moore’s University.

Her love of the game can be seen in this collection, which sadly isn’t available to buy, but features five LFC-inspired designs worn by flag-waving models in headscarves and bright, confident colours bringing together her religion and love of the Reds. Each outfit pays homage to different aspects of the club, drawing inspiration from previous kits, fans and influential players and managers, both past and present.

“I feel like things have changed, I see a lot more women getting involved in football culture and I find this very empowering – I would hate to be restricted from enjoying the game I love,” she says.

Mohamed Salah, also receives a special dedication in her collection through a tracksuit printed with his shirt number and name in Arabic calligraphy.

“I couldn’t create an LFC-inspired collection without a special nod to the Egyptian King, could I?” she laughs.

It was Nadia’s love of the game and her keen eye for styling the perfect look that inspired the club to bring her on board for this latest project with LFC and ‘47.

She explains: “I was so excited when I got the call from Liverpool – when I created my ‘modest wear’ collection, I really hoped the club would notice me and I’m so glad they did.

“For the LFC and ‘47 shoot, the headwear collection had to be the focus but the overall look was really important, so I took inspiration from fans in the 70s and 80s who often collected pin badges and pinned them on to jumpers and jackets. When worn with the ‘47 hats, we created a fresh LFC look with retro roots.

“I loved putting this shoot together – it was a brilliant experience working with the club I love.”

Nadia graduated from Liverpool John Moores University last week and hopes to do more styling work in the future.

The whole range of ’47 headwear is now available to purchase online at www.store.liverpoolfc.com, and also in all LFC stores, including the dedicated ’47 shop at the Anfield megastore.
