Liverpool FC’s U11s paid a special visit to Liverpool Cathedral last week to take part in the ‘Sing When You’re Winning’ event.

The evening was a musical extravaganza celebrating the forthcoming World Cup and saw members of the Academy performing their best football skills in the iconic city centre building.

Several local schools also sang to the 1,000 people attending the prestigious annual event held at the largest cathedral in the United Kingdom.

On being invited to perform at the event, head of education and welfare Phil Roscoe said: "It was a fantastic evening and great experience for the lads to be able to show off their football skills and perform in such an iconic building.

"The event was a wonderful showcase of local talent singing, dancing and playing football in one of the most picturesque settings in the city.

"I would like to thank those from Liverpool Cathedral for inviting us down to take part and giving us the opportunity to be involved in such a historic event."

Stephen Mannings, director of choral outreach at Liverpool Cathedral, added: "The skill levels possessed by the boys were inspirational and made for many children, and adults in the audience, to witness a once-in-a-lifetime glimpse at the talent that exists within that age range, developed and trained at the Academy.

"In addition to [event directors] Jon and Karl, we’re also very grateful to Phil Roscoe for his spade-work in making this all happen."
