LFC Foundation's official legends charity match – Liverpool FC Legends v Barça Legends – was scheduled to take place at Anfield in March but was cancelled due to the uncertainty regarding its rescheduling.

As a result of the ongoing circumstances and being unable to confirm a date for the fixture, LFC Foundation took the decision to cancel the sell-out game and provide fans with a full refund.

An opportunity was also given to fans to donate all or part of their ticket refund to LFC Foundation to help support the COVID-19 recovery response work across the Liverpool City Region.

The COVID-19 recovery response work focuses on three key areas of support – food poverty, mental health and unemployment.

Matt Parish, LFC Foundation director, said: “On behalf of the LFC Foundation I would like to sincerely thank everyone who bought a ticket to our official LFC legends fixture and those who have kindly took the opportunity so far to donate all or part of their refund back to us.

“Your generosity during these difficult times is heartening and demonstrates the true community spirit of our fans. We will use the funds raised from these donations to support the COVID-19 recovery response work, which will make a difference to local people struggling as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

“Through the ongoing partnership between the Red Neighbours team, St Andrew’s Community Network – home of North Liverpool Foodbank – and Fans Supporting Foodbanks, we will continue to support the ongoing need at the city’s Trussell Trust foodbanks as well as helping to develop Your Local Pantries.

“Your Local Pantries is a fantastic initiative, which provides members with a dignity of choice and through a weekly membership fee of £3.50 they can choose food with a value of up to £25 per week.

“Our mental health work will focus on early intervention, providing support to children, young people and families who may be at risk of being tipped into crisis as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We will also be delivering unemployment support work, offering training, mentoring and signposting both virtually and physically to local people. This recovery response work will play an important role in supporting our local communities in the challenging times ahead.”

Ticket refunds for the Liverpool FC Legends v Barça Legends match have been automatically credited to the ‘Ticket Refund’ section within supporters ID ‘My Account’. An email was sent to supporters outlining details of how to withdraw their refund, and what to do if they wanted to donate all or part of the refund to LFC Foundation.

Please note that refunds must be withdrawn by midnight on Monday July 27. Any refund not claimed after this date will be donated to LFC Foundation.
