Liverpool Football Club are saddened to learn of the passing of former player, Don Campbell, this week, aged 83.

The Bootle-born defender signed professional terms with the Reds in 1950 and made his first-team debut in November 1953.

In total, Campbell made 48 appearances for the club, scoring two goals, before joining Crewe Alexandra in 1958.

He also represented Gillingham, Folkestone and Margate during his playing career.
