The 27th anniversary of Hillsborough was a day when respects were paid at Anfield, across the city and around the world to the 96 supporters who died in the disaster on April 15, 1989.

A poignant memorial service was the focal point of remembrance, with more than 20,000 people – including Liverpool FC players and staff – joining the bereaved families and survivors at the club’s stadium.

Our Story of the Day video reflects on the emotions of the occasion at Anfield, the final memorial service to be held at the ground, and reports on the many tributes delivered elsewhere.
