Liverpool FC is touring colleges across Merseyside and the Wirral to meet with young people interested in careers in hospitality and catering – ahead of the Main Stand at Anfield opening next season.

The careers presentations are part of a series of sessions delivered by the club’s matchday team, to give local students an insight into what it takes to make it in the industry.

Students will take part in a Q&A with Paul Cuttill, who leads Anfield’s hospitality and events offer, executive head chef Chris Marshall, and recruitment and retention manager Emma Hulme, as well as learning all about life at the stadium.

The interactive sessions are also an opportunity for young people to find out about the 1,000 new matchday roles that will be available when the stand becomes one of the largest in European football.

Cuttill said: “The Main Stand expansion gives us a fantastic opportunity to help local students to explore their interests in hospitality and catering, through the many different matchday roles that will be available.

“Making the connection between what’s learnt in the classroom and how that applies to working in a stadium is a great way for them to learn about the industry.”

Careers sessions have been delivered to City of Liverpool, Hugh Baird, West Lancashire and Wirral Metropolitan Colleges, to provide future chefs and aspiring catering professionals with an insight into the opportunities created by the improved facilities at Anfield. More visits are set to take place in the coming weeks.

The expanded 20,500-seater stand will feature state-of-the-art fan concourse and hospitality facilities together with premium public spaces – creating a wide range of casual opportunities across the club’s matchday kitchen, retail catering, safety, hospitality, tours and museum teams.

Liverpool FC will host recruitment events at Anfield Stadium on Tuesday March 29 and Monday April 18, where local people can learn about a wide range of matchday opportunities. Visitors can drop in to the event at any time from 4pm to 7pm or call 0151 264 2003 for more information.

Fans can also visit the Family Park before all remaining home fixtures for more information on the new roles.
