Liverpool defender Anderson Arroyo helped Colombia make a winning start to their FIFA U20 World Cup campaign on Thursday night.

The 19-year-old played the full 90 minutes in Lodz as Colombia claimed a 2-0 victory over tournament hosts Poland in Group A through goals from Ivan Angulo and Luis Sandoval.

Arroyo joined the Reds from Fortaleza CEIF in January 2018 and has since had loan spells with Real Mallorca in Spain and Belgian club KAA Gent.

He’ll be back in action with Colombia on Sunday evening when they face Senegal before their third group fixture against Tahiti next Wednesday.

The U20 World Cup runs until the final in Lodz on Saturday June 15.
