LFC FoundationWe're Celebrating National Careers Week at LFC Foundation
As part of the activities this week we've invited one of our work experience placement students to write an article about what they wanted to achieve from their career.
National Careers Week, which is running from March 4-9, is an opportunity to offer career support and guidance for young people throughout the UK.
We've welcomed Eve in to the marketing team at LFC Foundation this week to learn about marketing for a football club foundation.
Tell us about yourself
I’m Eve O’Sullivan, I'm 17 years old and I attend an all girls sixth form in Liverpool.
I have a passion for editing in my spare time on my iPad and being creative with posters as well as writing.
Why is careers week important to you?
Like most teenagers, I have had the same struggle when it comes to picking a direct path that could be my forever career.
Every student encounters fear and panic when having to make crucial decisions that are on a timestamp and require answers that you don’t have.
I thought I knew what I wanted to do but was it really what I enjoyed? I realised soon after that my hobbies and interests were an important factor when it came to jobs and opportunities I was willing to take. Personally, but I didn't realise the careers that this would link into as it was all about the enjoyment i was having.
What have you learned this week?
Over this busy week I have been doing my work experience at the LFC Foundation with their marketing team which has involved me stepping up and learning skills that could benefit both myself and be helpful to those around me. The marketing team provided me with the chance to develop my hobbies and interests into a tool and gave me the time to learn what marketing is as a whole and where I would fit in.
Additionally, allowing me to see team meetings and talking with team members has developed my grasp on what it is like to collaborate in an office environment which has also been an option pending on my mind.
I've been working closely on designing assets for events, writing briefs and helping with social and web copy.
Gaining a chance to work alongside the marketing team for Careers week has been astounding and the experience is exactly what I will now aim to achieve.
A huge thank you to Eve for your support this week. We wish you the best of luck with your career aspirations!
