Liverpool legends John Aldridge and David Fairclough recently visited Alder Hey Hospital on behalf of Forever Reds, following its donation of £50,000 to help finance a new Surgical Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

The former players got to meet with staff and see the new state-of-the-art incubators.

Speaking about the recent visit, Chairman of Forever Reds, John Aldridge, said: “It’s been great to visit the hospital today and meet with the staff to see what our Forever Reds donation has gone to support.

“We’re proud to be able to support a local lifeline like Alder Hey who have put the money towards helping the tiniest patients and families.

“I’m also thrilled that Forever Reds has raised over £340,000 in total since we started fundraising, we can’t thank the fans and former players enough who support our annual events. We look forward to the forthcoming Christmas Lunch, Legends Match at Anfield and Golf Day in March where we can support more charitable causes in our local community and our former players.”

Charli Canfer, Philanthropy Fundraiser, Alder Hey Children’s Charity, added: “It was a privilege to welcome John Aldridge and David Fairclough to Alder Hey and share the incredible impact of Forever Reds’ continued support.

“Their latest generous donation has funded a state-of-the-art incubator, providing vital care for our tiniest and most vulnerable patients. Both staff and families on the neonatal ward were thrilled to meet them and express their heartfelt thanks.”

The creation of Forever Reds has been driven by the club’s desire to ensure former players always feel part of the LFC family – providing former players with support, involving them in important work in the local community and coming together to raise money for local charitable causes alongside the LFC Foundation.

Their upcoming Christmas Lunch is sold out, however, the annual Forever Reds Golf Day on Friday 27 March 2026 is now on sale.

Tee off with a Liverpool Legend at one of Europe’s most celebrated championship courses, Royal Liverpool.
